SURVEYING SERVICES
J.D.Barnes is Canada's largest Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information Systems Company with over 230 employees located in 6 regional offices in Ontario. The company has been providing professional land surveying services since it's inception in 1960 and has been a leader in the industry due to its innovation and reputation.

The surveying component is comprised of 7 divisions providing land surveying services from all 6 offices. The total staffing of the surveying group is at historically high levels due to our success in attracting and retaining key clients. The services provided include the following:

· Legal (Cadastral) Surveys
· Engineering Surveys
· Geodetic Surveys
· Construction Layout Services
· Condominium Surveys
· Land Development Services
· Building Layout Services

J.D. Barnes offers services that are complimentary to those provided by engineers, planners, architects, lawyers and other consultants involved in the design, development and construction industry. Legal surveys are provided to the public, as are other miscellaneous survey services such as Tenancy Sketches, Part Lot Control and Committee of Adjustment applications. Engineering surveys include services provided on utility and pipeline corridors, highways, and large infrastructure projects.

The company believes in training and developing its staff in-house which allows for continuity and relationship building with our clients. There are presently 4 articling students at the firm that will be commissioned as Ontario Land Surveyors within 2 years. The skills of these individuals are supported by 20 Ontario Land Surveyors and an experienced management team.

A considerable investment has been made in leading edge technology that will provide the survey group with the tools necessary to remain at the forefront of the industry. Traditional field survey equipment is complemented by the latest technology available to the industry such as Real Time Kinematic Global Positioning Systems, Automated and Reflectorless Total Stations, Digital Precise Levels, and Pen-Base computers. Our in-house Information Technology group supports the hardware and software needs of the survey divisions and has been instrumental in developing unique and innovative programs to expedite field to office data exchange and processing. As with all of our services, the skills and knowledge of our staff are the most important factor in the success of the survey group.
