Geodetic survey services provide a uniform reference system to relate all desired land related activities.  Engineering survey services support the design and construction activities of both small and large infrastructure development/maintenance projects.

SERVICES PROVIDED

A cross-section of our geodetic and engineering survey services is as follows:

• Horizontal and Vertical Control. Provision of services to design and implement horizontal and vertical control networks.  Can be used as project control, mapping control, or municipal/provincial network development. (J.D. Barnes Limited owns and operates Global Positioning Systems which yield sub-centimetre accuracies).
• Municipal Network Implementation Consulting. Advise on specifications design criteria, network establishment and maintenance.
• Pre-Design Engineering Surveys. Collection and referencing of topographic data required to permit project design (horizontal and vertical alignments).  Data can be presented in hardcopy form (Engineering base plans) and digitally for use by the design team in the design process.
• Construction Layout. Layout services to support project construction.  This can apply to horizontal and vertical layout for transportation, utility, and building construction projects.
• As-Built Surveys. Accurate measurement and depiction of as-built locations of infrastructure.
• Monitoring. Precise measurement of small movements (settling of building, bridges, etc.); layout of highly accurate benchmarks; measurement of out of the ordinary features; measurement and alignment of machinery.
• Project Management. Coordination of all surveying and mapping related activities to ensure effective planning, development, and monitoring throughout the project.
